The construction of Derby First Christian Church's new 38,000 sf church complex included a sanctuary, offices and classrooms. The church features stone accents and exposed wood timber framing located at the entrance, welcome center/social area and worship space. The children's worship area incorporates extra high ceilings allowing it to be more of a multipurpose room. A walk-out basement provides light to the youth spaces and access to the recreation areas. The patio off the main social area incorporates a beautiful view, with the warmth of an outdoor fireplace and wood timber framing.
Owner | Envision
Architect | Spangenberg Phillips Tice Architecture
In August 2015, Eby was selected as the general contractor on the new Envision Research Institute. When construction began on the remodel, located in Envision’s downtown office building, the 10,090 sf area was unfinished, requiring minimal demolition. Upon completion, the Institute now includes 12 new offices, 9 research labs and 1 exam room. A large conference room, training/multi-purpose room and restrooms were also added. A new mechanical system, independent from the existing building system, was installed.
Owner | ICM, Inc.
Architect | Architectural Innovations, LLC
To keep up with the rapidly expanding ethanol market, ICM Inc. needed an additional space to house engineering support groups for the design and construction of ethanol production plants. To meet the demand, ICM needed facilities for approximately 125 new employees within 6 months! To meet such an intense schedule, ICM used the Design-Build method of construction and looked to Eby to excute it. The original scope of this contract provided for the design and construction of a 2-story 16,000 sf office building with associated site development and parking. However, after 6 months of construction and within days of completing the original design-build contract, the project scope had increased to include a third floor for a total of 24,000 sf. This award winning project showed what can be achieved through a committed partnership between the owner, contractor and architect.
