Welcome! Thanks for checking out our blog! We want to create a space to keep you informed on jobsite progress, employee announcements, and other important annoucements . Whether you’re in the AEC industry and desire to stay informed on Wichita construction news, or you’re a former employee curious about the happenings at Eby—this is for you!
Eby began construction for Phase I of the Downtown Senior Services Remodel & Expansion project in August. Prior to construction, the team demolished portions of the Senior Services building and an adjacent church structure that had been used as management office space. The project includes a 1st and 2nd floor office area remodel, a new commercial kitchen (including an associated freezer, storage, and support facilities) for the Meals-On-Wheels program, and an existing multipurpose room remodel. Eby has been a proud supporter of Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters for more than a decade and has raised thousands of dollars to support the organization over the years. “BBBS matches children facing adversity with caring, adult mentors. [They] believe that all children - regardless of race, socioeconomic status, or family background - can achieve success in life, especially with the guidance and support of a caring adult mentor.”
Build Your Future predicts that by 2021, there will be 5.5 million jobs in the construction industry and not enough skilled crafts workers to fill those positions (byf.org). The demand for workers makes it easy for anyone with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn to secure a well-paying job in the construction industry. Aside from employability, there are several incentives and advantages to pursuing a career in the industry.
At Eby we love goals, but we don’t need a new year to see the importance of them! One of the best resolutions we’ve ever made was to change the way safety is integrated into our daily plans. In 2018, we’ll be celebrating the tenth year of our resolution to improve safety at our jobsites.
On December 5th, St. Francis hospital hosted a blessing ceremony for the new Pediatric Emergency Department Area. The new area serves as much more than a “toy corner” for visiting children, its part of a larger mission to improve children’s hospitals across the United States.
