Mike Grier was elected President of Eby Construction in September of 2009. Mike, with his brother Kurt, jointly work within the “Office of the CEO” and are part of the group of third generation Eby employees following in the footsteps of their fathers and grandfathers.

Mike first began working with his grandfather, Martin K. Eby Sr., at the former Eby company ECCO Ranch located in eastern Kansas. Martin Sr.’s work ethic was instilled on him at an early age while working for Eby throughout high school and college. Mike held various field positions on projects in and around Wichita. After receiving his BS in Heavy Construction from Arizona State University in 1983, Mike spent four years working in the Phoenix area.

In 1988 Mike joined Eby and moved to Wichita to work at the Boeing 190Z facility on what was then the largest office building in the state of Kansas. Over the next decade, Mike’s assignments with Eby took him to Texas, New Mexico, and Florida, completing significant projects for the Trinity River Authority Central WWTP, the Santa Fe Railway Topeka Shops, the Bureau of Reclamation Navajo Indian Irrigation Project, and Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. The majority of Mike’s career has been spent on project sites managing work as a superintendent, giving him the background and experience to meet the challenges of any type of project.

Mike and his wife Teresa have been married for over 30 years and have two sons. Mike stays active in the community by participating in the Greater Wichita Partnership, the Wichita Area Outlook Team, the Sedgwick County Zoo Foundation Board and the Western US Chapter of the World Presidents Organization.

Kurt Grier holds dual roles with Eby, serving as both a corporate officer and project executive with Eby. As Executive Vice President, Kurt shares the “Office of the CEO” with his older brother Mike. Since 2008, the brothers have been working together to map out the future of Eby. In addition to his officer duties, Kurt also currently holds a direct relationship as project executive for several of Eby’s major aviation clients.

Following the family tradition of working in the field, Kurt developed a strong work ethic helping Martin Eby Sr. at the company’s working cattle ranch and on local construction projects during summers and school breaks. After completing his undergraduate degree in 1987 in Civil Engineering at Kansas State University, Kurt continued his education at the University of Colorado, Boulder and received his MBA in Organizational Management in 1989. After spending three years with a major general contractor in the Denver area, Kurt began his career with Eby as an Area Superintendent on the Kellogg Flyover project in Wichita. Subsequent Eby project assignments in Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, and in Wichita, have prepared Kurt with the skills needed to manage very complex and high profile projects.
