Wins DBIA-MAC Award Martin K. Eby Construction Co., Inc. was presented with the Design Build Institute of America – MidAmerica Chapter (DBIA-MAC) Merit Award Thursday, October 11th at the DBIA-MAC Conference in Independence, MO. Eby submitted the ICM, Inc. Office Building – South Campus Phase I and II, Colwich, Kansas, for the Private Sector - Projects Under $15 Million. This project was recognized for its outstanding design-build procedure and integrated teamwork. The integrated team worked to design and build the two phased, multi-story 40,000 square foot office building. This project was selected for the DBIA-MAC design build award because it exemplified the possibility of design build. The project progressed from their original request of a 16,000 square foot two story building to a three story 24,000 square foot structure. Two and half months into the project, they requested an additional 16,000 square foot two story structure to the north side of the main building. The integrated team was able to accomplish this, all while staying on budget and maintaining the delivery date for the original 16,000 square foot space. The first phase, a 3-story 24,000 square foot structure, was completed in 168 calendar days with the second phase, a 2-story 16,000 square foot structure, being completed just 53 days after the first.
