INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Field Engineer Intern opportunities are available to students who are in their Sophomore or Junior year in college and who are majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related course of study. Intern positions are generally available during the spring, summer and fall. The Internship Program is for those individuals who desire an opportunity to begin applying the skills learned in the classroom. Likewise, it provides an individual the opportunity to experience the excitement of the construction industry and discover the many challenges that it has to offer. There's nothing like getting direct, hands-on experience...and that is what Eby's Internship Program is all about. Field Engineer Intern positions are full-time positions on one of our current projects. In addition to surveying and layout responsibilities, the assignment includes gaining experience in the preparation of construction drawings and involvement in quality control initiatives. If you are interested in seeking additional information about the Internship Program or to apply for a current or upcoming position, you are encouraged to contact our office at 316-268-3500.

CAREER PATH FOR CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS
Entry level and progression up the career path of construction operations at Eby can occur through either craft or engineering experience. Regardless of which route is taken, we believe that field, office and project engineering experience is equally important to that of acquiring experience through direct responsibilities for the planning and execution of the work and supervising crews on the project site.

1. The Field Engineer is responsible for providing engineering layout and dimensional accuracy to field supervision, crafts, and subcontractors to insure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, plans, and specifications.  The Field Engineer also supports the project superintendent with regards to safety, quality, and checking quantities for materials ordered.  The Field Engineer is directed by the project superintendent and receives technical support from the project engineer.

2.   The Office Engineer coordinates project drawings, specifications, purchase orders, subcontractors, contract files and prepares pay estimates.

3.   The Project Engineer plans, coordinates and manages on-site construction engineering and administrative activities. The Project Engineer supervises and develops all on-site engineering personnel.

4.   The Superintendent is responsible for upholding the Eby Corporation's high standards for Safety, Quality, Productivity and On-time Project Completion.  They are charged with assuring our Customer's expectations are met while maintaining a superior level of integrity and highly effective/fair treatment of every Employee, Customer Representative and all other Project Team Members.

5.   The Project Manager is responsible for the overall administrative and technical direction of one or more projects.  Working in concert with the Superintendent the Project Manager establishes project objectives and policies, maintains liaison with the owner, designer, subcontractors and vendors, and monitors construction and financial activities.

6. The Estimator is responsible for gathering and compiling data for use in bid proposal estimates for one or more discipline areas.  Duties include calculating various statistical data related to quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment, etc.

7. The Project Estimator prepares complete estimates for assigned project(s) including analyzing bid documents, determining the project's scope and evaluating special conditions affecting the bid proposal (including site conditions, access, suppliers, and availability of labor).  The Project Estimator also evaluates subcontractor bids and determines personnel and equipment needs.

8.   The Senior Estimator has full responsibility for providing accurate estimates. The Senior Estimator builds relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, architects and engineers to maximize our competitive edge. The Senior Estimator directs the preparation of preliminary construction schedules and plays a pivotal role in the leading, training, and supervising of estimating personnel.
