World War II brought a demand for defense construction. Eby expanded rapidly to build hangars, barracks, and other buildings at installations throughout Kansas. After the war, the Company continued to expand, becoming a steady contractor for clients such as Boeing Airplane Company, Southwestern Bell Telephone, and the Santa Fe Railroad. From the end of World War II to 1957, Eby built 35 schools in 21 towns in Kansas. Eby's expansion outside of Kansas in the late 1940s included the completion of a major addition to the historic La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Company began its long tradition of heavy civil construction including hydroelectric plants, pipelines, and locks and dams. The 1980s began a decade of further diverse construction with such activity as the Tombigbee Waterway in Alabama, structures at the new Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport, and the largest U.S. Army construction since World War II at Fort Drum, New York. The Company now builds general buildings in the medical, educatioinal, and commercial markets, industrial and plant-related work, historic renovations, and select projects in the transportation market. Eby has worked in 29 states from Florida to Washington. Throughout the Company's history, it has maintained the lofty principles of success established by its founder. Eby has preserved easy and direct communication among all members of its team, and the Company recognizes individual effort. Eby has not forgotten the importance of saying "thank you" to our clients and our employees. Eby takes care of its customers, nurtures its work force, and anticipates future needs in the dynamic construction environment. The Company's history is rich with well-managed success, and the future is bright with opportunity. |
