Eby served as their own general contractor for the construction at their new shop and yard. Eby purchased the property which included two 20,000+ SF buildings previously used as a shipping warehouses. The first task included removing all of the concrete paving and shipping docks between the buildings. Then after the dirt level was raised between the buildings, new concrete paving was placed to match the finished floor elevations and allow easy passage between the north and south buildings.
The south building, was renovated first and partitioned into 3 main areas including: a mechanic’s shop, carpenter’s shop and materials storage. Each area was enhanced with new lighting, paint and equipment hookups. Then the north building was completely gutted and renovated to include 13,000 SF of finished office space. This included 17 offices, 2 conference/training rooms, a boardroom, a break room with full-service kitchen, vault and IT room. The break room was built as a hardened structure which would double as a safe room in case of weather emergencies. The remaining 7,000 SF was left unfinished for storage and warehousing needs. To enhance the exterior, new windows, siding and paint were added along with landscaping beds, sod and trees. Additionally, a new patio area was added complete with planters, furniture, shade structure and a serving bar so employees can enjoy the outdoors when the weather is nice.
