Envision Workforce Innovation Center
Location: Wichita, Kansas Owner: Envision Architect: Spangenberg Phillips Tice Architecture Construction: Eby ConstructionEnvision’s Workforce Innovation Center was created to pioneer the integration of blind and low vision people into everyday workplaces. This one-of-a-kind training facility combines input from multiple employers with the use of adaptive technologies to create workplaces where visually challenged people can flourish.
Eby’s work included a complete gut and remodel of the 5th floor of Envision’s Headquarters building. The 12,000 SF space was outfitted with new offices, break room, training rooms and experiential learning spaces. SPT Architecture used a blind architectural consultant to provide guidance in the layout and design elements for the space.
This project was challenging due to both its location within a fully-operational facility which caters to blind and an expedited 100-day schedule. Eby was able to overcome these challenges through extensive coordination and experience in working in occupied facilities.
